I rarely lose the whole meeting
My attention sometimes drifts. Afterwards, I usually still know what the meeting was about. What I lose is one decision I failed to note, or the task I only remember when someone asks about it.
A recording does not help much. I do not want to listen to the conversation again. A full transcript gives me more material, not more clarity.
I need the few sentences that still matter afterwards.
The idea behind Memember
Memember should take notes like an attentive person at the table: capture decisions, assign tasks and mark open questions. The rest can disappear.
That leads to an important technical choice. After the meeting, there should be no audio file and no word-for-word transcript. Only the notes derived from the conversation remain.
This is not an optional privacy setting. It is the product idea.
Summarising is not the hardest part
Everyone in the room must know that Memember is running. One objection should be enough for the app to stop immediately and delete what it has processed.
I want Memember to recognise that objection itself if I do not react fast enough. I am not satisfied with that part yet. People phrase things differently, speak over each other or object indirectly. Until those cases work reliably, I will not release the app.
Unstructured conversations and overlapping voices are difficult for the notes as well. The legal and privacy details also need a thorough review before any public launch.
Current state
The prototype can:
- extract decisions, tasks and next steps from a conversation
- produce short, structured notes
- use spoken context without keeping audio or a full transcript
- stop and delete created content when it detects an objection
Memember currently runs only on macOS and is not publicly available.
